Caring for Jewellery is an
important part of owning Jewellery.
You should always take care of your jewellery and when they are not being worn,
they should be stored away carefully.
Special care should be taken
of Pearls, Diamond Rings and Gold Chains. Never throw them all in together in a
box until you need them again.Chains can get knotted and pearls are easily
marked.
That's why at Ajay
Jewellers we dedicate this section of our web-site to informing you of the best
ways to Care for your jewellery, simply click the links below:

Gold Jewellery
To
clean Gold, first soak it in a little warm water with fairy liquid and then
brush carefully (with a tooth brush) around any stones with a small makeup
brush.
You should
never soak pearl, coral, or stone, which may have water-soluble fittings.
When you have
cleaned the jewellery, rinse it in cold water and dry with a soft cloth.
If you wish
for a more professional clean, bring your jewellery to an Ajay Jewellers
showroom, have special chemicals and equipment which will make to look as good
as new. In addition we can offer you one o one expert advise on the best action.
Remember to
always put your jewellery away in a jewellery box, which has special
compartments for the different items or keep them in their individual boxes
until you need them again.

Diamond Jewellery
Do
not wear your Diamond Ring when doing rough jobs, cleaning, gardening etc.
Catching in things can damage claws and settings. Diamonds, even though the
hardest of stones, can be chipped by a hard knock.
Check the claws of your
rings regularly as they can catch in your clothes when you are dressing. The
damage caused to the claw may lead you to losing your diamond (at worse the
diamond can fall out).
You can sometimes tell if
damage has been done if the ring keeps catching in your clothes and on close
examination, you can see the claw is either missing or raised from the stone.
If a claw is found to be
damaged or missing, take the article to your nearest Ajay Jewellers showroom
where our qualified jeweller experts should be able to repair it for you.
You can clean your diamond
ring in warm water as with the gold jewellery.
Brush
carefully with a small brush around the diamonds as under the stones can become
very dirty. This can cause your stones to appear dull as no light can get
through from underneath. Rinse in cold water and dry with a soft cloth.
Remember
Diamonds are forever and with a bit of care and attention will sparkle the way
they did when they were new in years to come.

Pearl Jewellery
Taking care
of Pearls is different to Diamonds because of the way they are
manufactured, so take good care of them. Pearls are normally
strung with knots between each pearl so if the chain breaks, you
risk losing only one.
Check the
string regularly especially at the clasp.
When wearing
pearls take care when putting makeup and perfume on as the
chemicals in these products can effect the pearls colour and
damage your pearls.
Never
sock them in water as is the case with diamonds and gold
jewellery as which can weaken the sting always wipe them with a
soft cloth.
After wearing
them; store them in tissue, so as they will not get marked in
your jewel box.

Selecting a Gift
It is
nice to receive or give something special the perfect gift. But
sometimes the choosing can be difficult. A good place to start is by
looking at what the person in mind is already wearing.
-
Is the jewellery predominantly 24ct gold, 22ct Gold, White Gold,
Platinum or silver?
-
Does it have a classic look or is it more modern in style?
-
Is it being worn daily or only taken out on special occasions?
Jewellery for special occasions can be more delicate than that
which will be worn daily. For example a 22ct-curb link bracelet will
stand up to much more wear and tear than a delicate fancy bracelet.
-
Is the person fashion conscious?
A fashion conscious wearer will want to constantly change the
type of jewellery they wear in keeping with the latest trends.
Fashion
changes all the time and jewellery styles change as well. That's why at
Ajay Jewellers we import direct in addition to manufacturing in the UK.
This allows us to bring you the latest fashions at affordable prices
There
are however, traditional gifts, such as Chains, Fancy Link Bracelets and
Bangles.
Earrings are always popular but remember to check if the wearer prefers
drop or stud fittings and of course are the ears pierced!
